I am I
I am not Lance Armstrong but I have raised money for the Livestrong foundation and rode the Livestrong-100 in PA last year (and will ride again this year)I am not Ned Overand but I have raced Mountain bikes for the past 8 years.
I am not Hans Rey but Can do a wheelie Drop (and I am getting better at riding a wheelie)
The purpose of this article is not to list what I have or have not done but rather to highlight inspiration and personal development. I started cycling regularly back in 1999 When I got my 1st mountain bike (I was immediately hooked) It was guys like Lance and Ned who inspired me to ride, develop, and race. When I was doing training rides in the cold rain in March I would reflect on a poster of Lance that I had of him climbing the Pyrenees in an icy rain. When I was climbing the Muddy Switchbacks at Mount Snow I again found inspiration from Ned and other Mountain bikers I had seen in videos and Magazines. There was a line in Jurassic Park where Jeff Golblum's character says "You stood on the shoulders of giants to accomplish something as fast as you could" (Well yeah It helps to have someone show you what can be done Remember the 4 minute mile) Cycling has provided me with a lot of enjoyment and provided a different lens in which to view the world around me as well as the time to reflect on my thoughts. For myself and a group of friends that I ride with Cycling provides us with an adventure almost every weekend.
I may not be the fastest racer or get the biggest air but I am content having the most fun doing a sport a love.

Congratulations on your accomplishments so far... There's nothing like having role models to help get motivated or inspired!
Thanks for the comment I left off an inspiration individual I came across early in my racing. It was at Mt Snow during Nationals. A guy named Rudy he was 80 years old and was racing Expert class. When I saw this guy it was like wow I wan't to be still doing this at his age (I wish that I had spoken with him after the race.
